How to Create an Unlimited Number of Business Emails Using Your Web Hosting

If you want to have a professional business identity, one of the important tools you
must have are: your own website and email addresses.

Can you imagine doing business with someone who has no website or email that shows
the business name?

With the advancement of web hosting technology and the ease of use, any one can have their own website, domain name, and email that has their business name.

You can create unlimited number of email with your business name. All you need is get a web hosting account and register a domain name.

The web hosting account and the domain name can be registered in the same place. Most web hosting companies let you register a domain name.

Why you need a web hosting and domain name?
In order to have your own website, www name, and related emails, you must register a domain name and you need to get a web hosting account. The domain name registration lets you have a [http://www.yourcompanyname.com].

And the web hosting account provides you a storage on a web server for your website files. Also, the web hosting company provides you with an email aliases and email storage for your email files.

You don’t have to have a website in order to create your email addresses with your web host. There are many web hosting companies on the Internet.

Once, you register a domain name and get a web hosting account, you can create your email addresses without even having a website. My first choice of web hosting is a Linux based web server with Cpanel control that enables the user modify all kinds of feature.

To create email accounts using Cpanel control panel, you log in through the main website address with /Cpanel added at the end of the domain name. Then you enter the user ID and password you receive from the web hosting account.

Now, you are at the Cpanel page, where you find about 40 icons, each has a specific function that you can use to add a function to the website.

On the top line of the control panel, you will find two icons named: “mail” and “webmail”.

The mail icon provide a menu called: “Mail Manager Main Menu”. This is where you can add delete, or modify an email account. Depending on the web hosting company, you can create a specific number of emails. Some let have 10, 100, or unlimited number of email accounts.

The Webmail is used to access the email accounts. Since each email account has a different user ID and password, the email will be private to each user.

In summary, in you can use your web hosting and domain name to create email accounts that match your business name without creating a website. You can create the website later.

Can a Webpage Created Without HTML?

In the last 12 years, I have done lots of research and testing on how to build an online business, that can be successful.

I failed many times, but I learned a lot and I am about to share part of my experience with you. The info will help you save time and money.

When establishing an online business; that is, a website promoting your product or service, there are main elements that have to exist and be calculated to achieve certain outcome.

Also, there is no guaranteed result, but it makes sense to follow the right steps and evaluate your results. Afterwards, you should modify some of the elements and repeat the cycle again.

In my opinion, there are three main elements that affect the success or failure of your online business; they are: your website traffic + conversion rate + economics.

First, you must have traffic to your website. Without traffic, you will not be able to achieve any task. So, you can’t make sales or obtain subscribers. In this case, you will incur loss due to maintaining your online presence.

Second, conversion rate. Once you drive traffic to your website, you will need the traffic to convert. Conversion is the rate at which visitors to your website do what you ask them to. That is, subscribe to you email list, or buy what you offer.

Third, the cost of the online business.

After calculating the cost, traffic, and conversion, you should have an approximate idea whether you are losing or making profit.

If you are losing money, then you must modify what you are doing and analyze your results again.

Also, the success degree varies among business owners. As the title states, I will be discussing the subject of website traffic. The other two elements are totally separate from it.

Here are the types of web traffic: Free traffic and Paid traffic.

Here are some examples of free traffic:

In summary, there are many ways to drive web traffic, but you must not try all at once. You should try one way and determine if it works for you. Also, you should analyze your statistics to determine your profit or loss.

Why Do Images Disappear from a Webpage?

In learning webpage design, I encountered many problems that took lots of practice to resolve. Although, I was building web pages using Microsoft Frontpage on my home computer, I used to face lots of issues after uploading the webpage to my website.

One major problem was the disappearance of an image file from the webpage. When I created the webpage on my home computer, it looked exactly the way I planned it. Both the text and images showed on the webpage.

When I uploaded the webpage my web server space, they images showed as the letter X in the middle of a blank frame.

After lots of searches, I found out that the problem can only be fixed by modifying the HTML of the web page having the problem.

The HTML code I had to change was very simple and straight forward, when locating the code related to the image.

Whether the webpage has one or more image, you use the same method to modify the code. You just have to fix one at a time.

The rule for an image to appear correctly, is to save the images in the same directory as the webpage where the image is supposed to appear.

Whether you create a webpage on your home computer or your web server, the same rule applies.

When you upload the webpage to the web server, the website looks at the webpage an sees the image source as the hard disk of your computer. This is why it can’t display it. The image source should be in the directory on the website.

Here is the solution to this problem:

Every image file on a webpage is embedded in the IMG tag, and the exact location of the image file shows as a value for the SRC attribute. For example, SRC = “image.jpg” is one of the format that an image appears in.

Correcting the SRC value, will correct the problem that causes the images to show as the letter X. The SRC tag attribute means the source location of the image file. When the webpage was designed on your home computer, the source value was your computer hard disk.

In summary, before you upload a webpage with picture, you should change the Html code of the image.

All what you need to change is the SRC value from your hard disk to your website directory.

For example: Change this code SRC=”C:image.jpg” to SRC=”index.html” if the webpage happens to be your home page.
If the page was not the home page, you can just replace index.html with the name of the page.

Why Web Pages Appear in the Wrong Location After Uploading to My Website?

If your are a new web designer, you may face a common problem after uploading your web page to your web server. The problem is that the web page appear in the wrong location on your website, and will not be accessible when you type its address in the browser address box.

There are two ways to create a web page at your website. You can either create the web page on the server using the server html editor application, or you can create a web page on your home computer and then upload it to your web server using FTP (file transfer protocol) software.

The first method is rarely used, because it is not very practical. It lacks the flexibility of of home computer. The second method is widely used. With the use of ftp software, you will be able to upload your webpage to your server.

The problem is when you ftp to the server, and you are granted access you end up on the top directory (/) which hosts all your files website and others. You get a screen with all of your folders, sub-folders, and single files under the main (/) directory.

Now you get a link at the top of the screen that says upload file. When you click on the link, a box will open that lets you search for the file you want to upload from you home computer hard disk.

When you choose the file to upload to your website and continue with the step by step process, you end up successfully with the file on your web server storage in the top directory.

Please note that the term directory and folder are used interchangeably, but refer to the same object. Now your file is in the top directory (/).

Now you will be surprised that, you can not access the uploaded file from the internet whatever you type in the URL box.
The reason is when you type the URL of your website, you will access the (/www) directory which is the top directory of your website.

All the web pages of your website are in the (/www) or in a sub-directory of (/www).

Here is the solution to this problem:

When you get access to the top directory, you click on the /www folder icon in the list. Now you are in the website home directory (/www/) where your home page is.

Looking at the top, you notice it says the current directory is such and such. So, when you hit the upload link, make sure the the current directory is where you want to upload the webpage.

For example, if you want to upload a web page to the sales sub-directory, you click on the /www and then on the /sales folder icon in the /www list.

This is where you end up: /www/sales as your current folder. Now you click the upload link to have your web page end up in the correct folder /www/sales/.

In summary, your web page will end up in the current directory of your web server space. The initial directory to a get once accessing your account is the top one.

After that you can change the current directory to any sub-directory under you website directory, where you need your web page to end up.

What Happened to My Website When I Deleted the Home Page by Mistake?

There is a widespread confusion among lots of new website
designer concerning the home page.

If you get any book, any course, or ask most web page designer
how to build a website, they will advise you to build your
home page first.

It is a good idea, and most website designers start with
creating a home page first. The problem is, some web designer
think if they deleted the home page, the whole website is gone.

So, what they do is deleting all directories and sub-directories and the files within, and they start building the website from the ground up.

This is lots of work, and it is not needed. The solution is
very simple. You can delete, or edit the home page without
affecting the rest of the structure of your website.

As a matter of fact, your website stays intact with one
difference only. The only difference is, when you type the URL
of the website, you will be presented with a list of links to
the files in the home directory, and sub-directories of the website.

The home directory of the website is /www folder where the
home page (index.html) resides with other files, that can be
accessed when you type the URL with the file name appended to
the URL.

For example, suppose you have a website with the following pages: index.html ( home page), contact.html, about.html, and privcy.html. If you delete index.html by mistake or for any other reason, you will be left with the three above files in the home directory (/www).

So, if someone types your URL, instead of the home page, the website will display the list of the three above files. With each file, you will find its size, date created or modified, type , and other properties.

In other cases, where you have more than few pages on your website, the whole structure of your website will be displayed. That is all directories, sub-directories.

Now depending on the permission on each directory, some you can
access, others you can not.

In summary, if you are in the process of editing your home page
for any reason, and it was inaccessible for a short period of time,it is not a problem. Your website directories and files are still there.

However, as long as your home page is not present, your visitors
can see the structure of your website. So, may sure have a directory on your website with permission set so that no one except you have access to it. This where you hide files you don’t want others to see.

How To Build a Website Using the Right Web Host Without Knowing HTML

If you are reading this page now, then you are interacting directly with the web hosting of this website.

A web hosting is the service that offer you a location for your website in their web server. Whenever you create a web page, or build a website, you need a web hosting provider to store your web pages that make up your website.

A website consists of many types of files, text, image, application, and more… All of which reside on a web server in a Web Hosting provider. A website can be accessed from the Internet by typing its domain name.

The domain name is the http://www.yourwebsitename.com that you type to get to the website. However, a domain name and a web hosting account are totally different services, they work together to enable the Internet users access the website.

It is not a good idea to buy a cheap web hosting account, because the cheaper it is, the less features you get with it. Not only the features are less, but all aspects of working on your website are affected negatively.

On the other side, you can’t get an expensive web Hosting provider when you start building a website, because you may be overcharged if you don’t know exactly what features you need.

In conclusion, take your time and compare the different hosting providers by looking at the features they offer, and by comparing the prices for the same features. A good practice
is to read the testimonials of the web hosting provider customers.

Link Exchange Did Not Bring Any Traffic to My Website

I am always surprised, when I read articles and ads that instruct webmasters to exchange links with similar websites. I have tried it when I started to build websites. It simply didn’t work for me.

Traffic is the dream of every webmasters. Without traffic, you get no sales, no subscribers, no publicity, and none of your reasons of being online is reached.

Link exchange takes lots of effort to achieve simply because, you have to find similar websites to yours, find the contacts, send an email to the webmasters, and then wait for an answer.

After doing all the work, you may not get an answer or worse yet, you might get response from website owners who are trying to sell you their products.

Some webmasters try to automate the process of exchanging links, and join fee based services that coast $19.95 and up to help them get links faster.

Some of the problem I encountered when exchanging links with other webmasters are:

1- Webmasters who are willing to exchange links are desperate of traffic, or usually are not high traffic website owners. Think of it, if you get lots of traffic to your website
and added a link on your website pointing to a different website, you will be diverting traffic away from your website.

2-Who wants to send you traffic if you aren’t able to send them back similar number of visitors.

3-You probably ask how someone knows how much traffic I get to my website without reading my website logs. There is some websites that give you an idea of low or high traffic websites. A good estimation of website traffic is the traffic ranking done by Alex.com.

4-Another reason is that, some webmasters don’t link back to your website, even if you added a link to their website.

5-Some webmasters charge you a fee to add a link to your website. After you pay, you don’t know how long they will keep it. That by itself, will need lots of effort to keep
track.

6-Another problem with link exchange is that few links don’t help. You will need lots of links pointing to your website to make a difference. Again, because you are dealing with website that don’t have lots of traffic.

In conclusion, I don’t recommend the webmaster of any new website to try link exchange to create traffic to their website. If you want to use this technique, use it last.
